Special Breast Cancer Awareness Tournaments in October at ACR

Posted on by John Lathram

Breast Cancer Awareness Tournaments Americas Cardroom is supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating the buy-ins for two special “Awareness” tournaments each day to charity.

In the United States, around one-in-eight women will develop invasive breast cancer during the course of their lifetimes. Fortunately, fewer women will die from the disease than they did thirty years ago due to earlier detection and more effective treatments being available. The decreasing mortality rate is also attributable to better awareness of breast cancer.

One of the reasons why American women are more aware of breast cancer risks than previously is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This annual event was established in October 1985 to encourage more women to have regular breast cancer screening and is symbolized by pink ribbons and the pink illumination of landmark buildings.

How ACR is Supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Americas Cardroom is supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting two tournaments per day from which all the buy-ins, fees, re-buys, and add-ons will be donated to bithope.org. The site has chosen to support bithope.org as it is a fundraising site that only accepts donations in Bitcoin. Currently Bitcoin accounts for around 60 percent of transactions at Americas Cardroom.

The funds raised by bithope.org are being used to support the work of the Win Over Cancer Foundation – a charity that helps help people diagnosed with cancer get through the treatment stages, and then guides them through therapy and rehabilitation. The Foundation also arrange cancer awareness sporting events during which free screening is offered to female participants.

Americas Cardroom´s Awareness Tournaments

Americas Cardroom´s “Awareness” tournaments are scheduled for 8:00am ET and 5:00pm ET each day, and each has a $2,000 prize pool. From today until October 15th, the tournaments will be re-buy and add-on tournaments with a buy-in of $1.10 and re-buys/add-ons costing $1.00. From 16th October, the tournaments will be freebuy tournaments to coincide with Freebuy Super Series IV.

I strongly suspect the nature of the tournaments, the low buy-in, and the valuable prize pool being put up by the site will attract a lot of interest. I also suspect – with re-buys costing just $1 during the first twelve levels – the standard of play is going to be pretty loose with chips flying everywhere. Make sure you are part of the fun and support a good cause at the same time.

New Multiday Super Satellite to Venom Qualifier

Earlier this week I wrote about new daily Venom satellites being added to the schedule that guarantee twenty-five seats per week into the target tournament. If you saw the article and wondered where the players were coming from to fill the $630 buy-in satellites, the answer is the new multiday super satellites that guarantee a minimum of fifty “Step 6” tickets each week.

Phase 1 of the multiday super satellites run several times a day and have a buy-in of just $6.61. Each Phase 1 tournament last for thirty, five-minute levels, at the end of which surviving players carry their chip stacks forward in to a Phase 2 final on Sundays at 1:00pm ET. The top fifty players in each Sunday final will win a “Step 6” Venom ticket worth $630 to use in the daily Venom satellites.

The phased tournament format is a great way for players with limited bankrolls to get involved in a multi-million dollar event, and already this week´s super satellites are proving popular. There have been more than a thousand entries and re-entries over the first two days of this week´s Phase 1 tournaments and already more than one hundred players have qualified for Sunday´s Phase 2 final.
