WPN Announces OSS XV Plus Venom Fever

Venom FeverThe Winning Poker Network has announced an Online Super Series to support the $6 million Venom and a schedule of mega-satellites to support the event itself.

The Winning Poker Network´s $6 million guaranteed Venom tournament gets underway in just four weeks (on November 27th); and, as widely anticipated, the Network is supporting the event with a special tournament series – the Online Super Series XV. The series will consist of 150 events played between Wednesday, November 20th and Sunday, December 15th; and, including the prize money for the Venom, the total amount of guaranteed prize pools exceeds $12 million.

Unlike when the Venom was last played in July, the Online Super Series will not have its regular “Cub3d” format. Instead, the Network is mixing and matching the tournament schedule throughout the twenty-five days of action to ensure there is always something for everyone. Consequently, there are both low buy-in (from $1.10) and high buy-in (up to $1,050) events at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of the OSS XV schedule.

Schedule Includes Two Million Dollar Sunday Events

In addition to the Venom, there will two further Million Dollar Sunday events with seven-figure guarantees. The first of these – on Sunday 8th December – is a $540 buy-in event which will be supported by a multitude of satellites and mega-satellites as the target event approaches. The second Million Dollar Sunday event is a phased tournament with twelve $215.00 buy-in flights feeding into a Final Day on Sunday 15th December. No doubt there will also be last chance satellites for this event as well.

The remainder of the schedule is what we have come to expect from a WPN Online Super Series – stacks of NLHE, PLO, and PLO8 tournaments with a good range of formats and speeds, and ambitious guaranteed prize pools. To illustrate just how ambitious some of the guarantees are, the opening event has a buy-in of $109 and a prize pool guarantee of $125,000. That might not be considered ambitious for a Sunday, but the opening event of OSS XV takes place at 3:00 pm on a Wednesday afternoon!

The full schedule for OSS XV is now live on the Americas Cardroom website and the individual tournaments should soon appear in the tournament lobbies at Americas Cardroom and Black Chip Poker. However, please note that the schedule is still subject to change, and while the Network continues to prioritize qualifiers for the Venom, you are unlikely to see any satellites for OSS XV events any time soon under the satellites tab.

Talking of Qualifiers for the Venom

The Winning Poker Network is going all out to qualify as many players as possible for the Venom ahead of the event and, in order to encourage players to qualify early, the Network is launching a Venom Fever promotion. The promotion consists of the existing Steps program (which still starts at freeroll level), a series of “Cyclone” tournaments (similar to Blitz Poker games), and daily mega-satellites guaranteeing up to seventy-five seats in the target event per day.

The mega-satellites start this coming Friday (November 1st) and have buy-ins starting at just $6.61. The number of seats up for grabs in each mega-satellite varies according to the buy-in, time of day, and day of the week; but during the course of November, the Network is guaranteeing 820 seats for the Venom will be won through the mega-satellite schedule – each seat having a value of $2,650 – plus hundreds more through the Steps program and Cyclone tournaments.

Consequently, even though the Venom event may still be four weeks away, if you are thinking of playing in the event, it could be in your best interest to visit a site on the Winning Poker Network as soon as possible. If you are an existing player at Americas Cardroom, don´t forget there is a reload bonus promotion underway until tomorrow (October 31st) and, if you are not yet playing at the site, read my Americas Cardroom review to see how you can take advantage of a first deposit bonus up to $1,000.
