Special Mad Monday Series Scheduled for Columbus Day

Ignition Poker's Mad MondayIgnition Poker is celebrating Columbus Day with a special series of Mad Monday tournaments. Qualifiers for the $125,000 guaranteed Main Event start next Monday.

On October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus accidently discovered America while trying to find a westward route from Europe to Asia. Although he was not the first European to land in the Americas (he was beaten to it by the Vikings four hundred years earlier), his discovery led to the colonization of the continent and the development of trade routes across the Atlantic.

Various communities have celebrated the anniversary of Columbus´ arrival for more than two hundred years, but it was not until 1934 that President Roosevelt proclaimed Columbus Day to be national holiday. Since 1971, the anniversary of Columbus´ arrival has been celebrated on the second Monday of October throughout most of the United States.

Mad Columbus Monday at Ignition Poker

Mad Mondays are frequent events at Ignition Poker – sometimes forming part of the regular tournament schedule, and other times appearing as one-off series with significantly enhanced guarantees. This October 14th (the second Monday in October), Ignition Poker´s Columbus Day Mad Monday is a very special series indeed – with seventeen Columbus Day tournaments scheduled throughout the day that, between them, have prize pool guarantees of $350,000.

The total series guarantee is a considerable uptick on last year´s equivalent series – mostly driven by the guaranteed prize pool for the Main Event being increased from $75,000 to $125,000 (with no increase in the buy-in). There are several further changes to the rest of the schedule which include bigger starting stacks (except for the final event), a Crazy Eights tournament (replacing the “Big Three” event) and a second KO tournament (replacing the 50/50 event.
