This coming Sunday 25th November, Ignition Poker is replacing its regular High Rollers tournament with a special Thanksgiving event guaranteed for $250,000.
On most Sundays of the year, Ignition Poker hosts a pair of popular tournaments starting an hour apart during the early evening – the weekly feature tournament guaranteed for $100,000 at 4:00pm (all times ET), and a High Rollers tournament guaranteed for $75,000 at 5:00pm. Respectively they have buy-ins of $162.00 and $325.00 and are supported by a comprehensive schedule of satellites and sub-satellites.
Due to it being the Thanksgiving holiday this weekend, the site is replacing the High Rollers tournament with a special event guaranteed for $250,000 and – conscious of the high $325 buy-in – adding more ways in which players can win seats prior via satellites and a Sit & Go Steps promotion. Furthermore, due to a new payout structure, the top 20% in both Sunday tournaments will be in the money.
All You Need to Know about Ignition´s Thanksgiving Event
One of the best things about the majority of online poker tournaments at Ignition Poker is that they are pure freezeouts. There are no re-entries, re-buys or add-ons allowed in most events, so once you have lost your chips you are out. Unfortunately the site persists in having very long late registration periods which extends the length of the tournament for players who register at the start of the event.
Hopefully in Sunday´s Thanksgiving tournament (which starts at 5:00pm), you won´t lose your starting stack of 15,000 chips too quickly. Blinds start at 10/20 and increase slowly every fifteen minutes so that, by the end of fourteen levels of late registration (3½ hours!), players buying in at the last minute (when blinds are 500/1,000 – ante 100) will have a starting stack equivalent to fifteen Big Blinds.
Why You Should Qualify Today for the Thanksgiving Event
With it being Thanksgiving tomorrow, many players are not yet thinking ahead to Sunday night. Consequently there are some satellites guaranteeing seats into the Thanksgiving event which are undersubscribed, making it much simpler to win seats against smaller fields. The same also applies for satellites feeding into the $100,000 guaranteed weekly feature tournament.
So, what should you be looking out for? Certainly the $7.70 buy-in $250K Cheap Seats sub-satellites at 7:00pm tonight and tomorrow evening. These guarantee a minimum of five seats into a $44.00 buy-in satellite at 9:00pm, which guarantees ten seats into the target event. I can´t see either tonight´s or tomorrow night´s 9:00pm satellites attracting enough players to cover the guarantee.
Other Options if You are Unable to Play Until the Weekend
If you are not able to play until the weekend, Sunday´s Cheap Seats route looks the best option. Ignition Poker is hosting a $7.70 buy-in tournament at 12:30pm that guarantees thirty seats into a $44.00 buy-in satellite starting at 2:30pm. The $44.00 buy-in satellite guarantees a minimum of twenty-five seats into the Thanksgiving tournament, so although it will make a long day of poker, it could be worthwhile.
Alternatively, you could take advantage of the two-stage Steps Sit & Go promotion. Both stages consist of 6-Max Sit & Go tournaments that can be bought into directly for $11.00 (Step 1) or $55.00 (Step 2). The winner of Step 1 Sit & Go games wins a seat in a Step 2 game, and if he or she also wins the Step 2 game, they win a ticket to the target tournament. Both Steps are very quiet at present, but I expect the action will kick off for this promotion once Thanksgiving Day on Thursday is out of the way.
$1,000 Poker Bonus plus $1,000 Casino Bonus for New Players
If you are not yet playing at Ignition Poker, but would like to take advantage of the undersubscribed satellites feeding into Sunday´s $250,000 guaranteed Thanksgiving tournament, you are invited to read my review to find out more about the site and the 100% first deposit bonus up to $1,000.
If you also enjoy playing casino games, I have compiled a review of Ignition Casino which has its own 100% first deposit bonus up to $1,000 as well. What I really like about this bonus offer is that it has a low rollover requirement before you can cash out, plus there is an excellent selection of games.
Whatever option you choose (poker, casino, or both), good luck at the tables on Sunday. Happy Thanksgiving!
