World Poker Tour and partypoker to Host First-Ever Online Event in New Jersey

Over the past few months, online poker players have had a lot to look forward to. With social distancing a must due to the coronavirus, players are staying close to home, which means more time to play poker online. Top-rated sites are offering more tournament action as well as special events due to the changes in the current environment. For partypoker, the brand just announced an extension to their partnership with the World Poker Tour. The two are working together this month to launch a new online event in New Jersey.

WPT Online Poker Open

The new event is called the WPT Online Poker Open and will take place on the partypoker US network. This network includes BetMGM poker, partypoker NJ and Borgata Poker. Players on any of these sites can take part in the special event this month.

The tournament will offer $300,000 in total prize money and take place as a phase event. Players will be able to qualify for the final day by paying just $45. This price point is for the qualifying rounds only. To buy-in directly, players will need to pay a $400 fee.

Partypoker is also running $5 qualifiers several times a day to help players earn a spot on Day 1. The site also has the $45 direct satellites which will offer 10 seats to the final day of the event. Players have several ways to earn a spot into the new online poker event.

The winner of the event earns the first-place prize money as well as a WPT Champion’s Trophy. On top of that, a VIP experience to Las Vegas is on the table plus a $11,000 package of VIP awesomeness that includes a seat into the next World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic.

Only players located in New Jersey can take part. It is expected that a large number of players will log on to compete, including players coming in from New York and Pennsylvania.

Get in on Poker Action Early

Before the WPT Online Poker Open takes place, the partypoker US network will be hosting an online tournament series. From June 21-28, players can compete in 12 events with satellites to lower buy-in entry. The series will offer almost $75,000 in total guarantees and buy-ins to events will range from $5 to $320.

The partypoker US Network online tournament series will be filled with action, as players take part in several events before the WPT Online Poker Open. There are several quality events on the schedule including the $7,500 Green Chip Bounty NLH. This event has a buy-in of $109 and will see $25 of that buy-in go to the bounty prize pool.

The series will also include a Black Chip Bounty No Limit Hold’em tournament that will offer $15,000 in prize money.

This series as well as the WPT event are just a fraction of what has been on offer at online gaming sites in the US as well as internationally due to the coronavirus outbreak. With more players logging in to play poker, the more options poker rooms are offering.

Partypoker US Network Director of Poker Ray Stefanelli commented on the new offerings this month by stating that the brand continues to strive to offer opportunities for poker players to enjoy the game in a safe and secure environment. The group is excited to combine the prestige of the WPT with their poker network to provide players in New Jersey with a championship-caliber trophy event.
