GGPoker Updates Staking Feature and Adds Side Events for WSOP

GGPoker kicked off the first of 54 WSOP gold bracelet events yesterday and has already made headlines by offering changes to the schedule and staking features. Players will find that GGPoker makes it easy for players to take part in WSOP events, offering quality staking options along with side options for additional gaming options.

Staking Poker Action

As the WSOP kicked off at the online poker room, GGPoker decided to make it easy to get in on staking action. The site now allows players and fans to buy a piece of the action of their favorite player or sell their own. This can be done if they survive Day 1 of phased tournaments at the site.

The change was made and the feature added to the first event of the WSOP Online at the site. The first event was a $2 million guaranteed tournament. Players who want to stake others can do so by logging in to the GGPoker client. During the first event, chip leader Almightycat already sold a large percentage of action over the weekend.

Poker pro Daniel Negreanu is excited about Day 2 staking as an ambassador of the online poker site. In the past, Negreanu has provided opportunity for fans and fellow players to stake his action and now they can do the same during the WSOP Online series. According to Negreanu, the change allows players to make a more informed decision when it comes to staking due to having access to Day 1 results.

Side Events

On top of the staking action changes, GGPoker has added a whopping 30 side events to the schedule. Right now, the brand has offered the schedule for the first ten days and it incudes these new 30 events. Each day, three will run, one at 12:00, 14:00 and 18:00 GMT. The side events run through the 26th.

Each side event has a generous prize pool starting at $25,000 and going as high as $150,000. In total, the side events will offer an additional $1.75 million in prize money. Buy-ins start at a low $52.50 and go as high as $2,500.

Players will have access to a variety of events including options like Double Stack, Bounty Builder, Marathon and PLO. The first side event launched on the 17th and offered up $50,000.

The GGPoker WSOP Online will be much larger than the set of events offered via WSOP.com in Nevada and New Jersey. For GGPoker, international players can take place and many more events will be on offer. The final table of the bracelet events will be played with players real names. Instead of using the online username, the real name of the player will be displayed.

Another interesting feature at GGPoker’s version is Bubble Protection. 18 of the events will offer this protection to players who register before the tournament starts. Any player who does not make the money will be refunded their buy-in. This is a nice feature that helps players to earn funds back if they do not make the bubble.
