More about the Halloween High Five Series

The Halloween High Five series takes place from Wednesday October 31st to Sunday November 4th. It consists of five days of action during which five tournaments per day have been added to the existing schedule or had existing guarantees increased. The twenty-five events include a wide range of formats and disciplines; and, despite buy-ins starting at just $1.05, the series is guaranteed for $1.5 million.

The most valuable tournaments of the series appear at either end of the schedule. Wednesday´s events include a $100,000 guaranteed 8-max tournament and a $150,000 guaranteed 6-Max tournament, while Sunday´s schedule includes a $22.00 buy-in tournament guaranteed for $100,000, the $300,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm Up, and the $420,000 guaranteed High Five Main Event.

In addition to feature events in the Sunday High Five schedule, WPN poker sites will also be hosting the $35,000 guaranteed PLO Sunday Special, the $1,000,000 guaranteed Million Dollar Encore, and a $55.00 buy-in qualifier for the PLO Live Cage event at the beginning of December which guarantees three packages to the winners – each package worth $8,340. It is going to be a very busy day.

Changes to the Live Cage PLO Event

If you have been following the Live Cage events in Costa Rica, you may be interested to know there are some changes planned for the next event over the weekend of 1st/2nd December. As well as changing the format from NL Hold´em to PL Omaha, the Network is introducing a “Double Buy-In” option. This option allows players to pay an additional $5,250 before the start of the event and receive a token entitling them to an extra 5,000 chips during the two days of action.

The use of the token (if purchased) is mandatory if a player busts out of the event, but it can be held in reserve throughout the rest of the weekend if not required. If the token is not used by the time the final hand is dealt, the player receives a refund. This change is likely to result in plenty more money being on the tables during the event, and give players who win a package in the $55.00 buy-in qualifiers the opportunity to spin their buy-in up to a cash prize in excess of $50,000.

One further change to the Live Cage events in general is that players who win packages to the events now have a year to use them (previously it was only seven months). This means you could win a package during the High Five tournament series, skip the PLO Live Cage event, and save your entry until a NL Hold´em event next summer. It is a nice choice to have to make, but it is a choice that will only be available to you if you play at the Winning Poker Network skins.
